I concur that it makes little sense. I have curl installed everywhere,
so the shell script containing a one line curl wrapper works just fine
for me (yeah it doesn't do stdin, shrug).

The Datenschutzerklaerung gives a contact address. You could ask if they
could clarify the licenses of these scripts.
