Hello,

Grafana announced the deprecation of promtail for collecting logs[0] and
replaced it with another Go-based Swiss Army knife named alloy. promtail
support will end March 2026 so I figured now would be the time to get the
replacement out the door. Once March 2026 rolls around, we can remove
promtail.

Alloy seems to offer collecting host metrics as well, but I haven't tested
that functionality. The log shipping features work just the same as promtail
though.
