Thanks, testing on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.4 (dmesg below),
with the new u-boot too.

Having built the package, is it enough ti just copy the files
in /usr/local/share/raspberrypi-firmware/boot/ over the ones on the
sd0i msdos partition? I copied over those that already exists there.

Everything seems to work fine. Are there some particular bits
I should look for in the boot sequence?
