i dont remember who tested it on !amd64, there's been at least some
arm64 tests.. in 7.8 there's packages for macppc, riscv64, i386 &
sparc64. having coverage/build status for those would be good.

i can try to undust my i386 vm and maybe the old macmini..

other than that, the timing in the cycle is right to put this on so i'm
ok with the diff.
