For the archives: this worked.

But it did :-)

With these packages:
py3-aiohttp-3.13.2
vdirsyncer-0.20.0

vdirsyncer did its job without complaints. 

Then, full of doubt, I reverted to the older rsyncer-0.19.3p0 and the
problem re-appeared. 

Thanks for the update to vdirsyncer-0.20.0, which solved my problem.
