CLI syntax is a bit weird. I ran the hello world on amd64 this way:

babcom6:haxe$ cat Main.hx                                                                      
class Main {
    static public function main():Void {
        // Single line comment
        trace("Hello World");
    }
}
babcom6:haxe$ haxe -hl test.hl -main Main
babcom6:haxe$ l
Main.hx  test.hl
babcom6:haxe$ hl test.hl                                                                       
Main.hx:4: Hello World
babcom6:haxe$
