then i guess the alternative would be to:
- advertise 'waypipe ssh target env XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=xxx command'
- add a section in ~/.ssh/config with SendEnv XDG_RUNTIME_DIR for the
  given targets ?

which one is less yucky ?
