From: Bjorn Ketelaars Subject: NEW devel/py-hachoir 3.3.0 To: ports@openbsd.org Cc: sthen@openbsd.org, rpointel@openbsd.org Date: Tue, 11 Aug 2026 10:20:34 +0200 I would like to import py-hackior-3.3.0 in devel/. This port is needed as RDEP of a coming update of news/sabnzbd. Passes tests, and run tested in combination with the sabnzbd update. Previously this tool was split up in 3 separate tools by upstream: py-hachoir-{core,metadata,parser}. And was imported in 2017 by rpointel@ and moved to the attic in 2021 sthen@ as it had a dependency on obsolete software (Python2). 3.3.0 is refactored to (only) run on Python3. COMMENT framework to parse and edit binary files CATEGORIES devel HOMEPAGE https://hachoir.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ MAINTAINER Bjorn Ketelaars DESCR Hachoir is a Python library to view and edit a binary stream field by field. In other words, Hachoir allows you to "browse" any binary stream just like you browse directories and files. A file is splitted in a tree of fields, where the smallest field is just one bit. Examples of fields types: integers, strings, bits, padding types, floats, etc. Hachoir is the French word for a meat grinder (meat mincer), which is used by butchers to divide meat into long tubes; Hachoir is used by computer butchers to divide binary files into fields. OK to import?
