We just made a big jump to the 2.2 series to help with progress towards 
Python 3.13.

If this diff isn't fixing some specific breakage I'd vote to hold off and 
let things settle for a bit with numpy given what a core port it is. If it 
is fixing some specific breakage, then please let us know what breakage 
is addressed.
