Thread
Dear ports list,

I have continued working on ports of the Ringdove EDA suite despite
the lack of feedback here to my previous mails. I know you are all
busy!

I discussed with the lead developer of Ringdove upstream, who is
strongly in favour of modular packaging and keeping packaging the
sameacross platforms to ease support and maintenance.

I have revised the ports from the monolithic first versions I made to
produce multi-packages with the same names and subpackage split as
specified in the upstream developer documentation for each Ringdove
component.

The -main package for librnd4, sch-rnd, pcb-rnd and camv-rnd is now a
metapackage, pulling in the most common components. Alternatively, it
is possible to install subpackages individually, in cases where disk
space is tight or some components of the metapackage are not wanted.

Ringdove is a powerful but very 'fast and light' piece of software,
using gtk2 by default. The -docs packages include tutorials and are
comprehensive.

As gEDA-gaf development is stalled, I suggest it's worth having a
maintained replacement for it available, as an alternative to KiCad.

A single tar.gz of all Ringdove the components is attached, containing
 cad/sch-rnd Schematic Capture
 cad/pcb-rnd PC Board Editor
cad/cam-rnd CAM (Gerber, Excellon,...) File Viewer
 cad/route-rnd External Autorouter
 cad/librnd 2D CAD engine library

 devel/fungw scripting function gateway
 devel/genht hash table library

It would be great if someone on the list could find time to test and
give feedback, and consider importing if OK.
